PBD Description

The PowerShares Global Clean Energy Portfolio (Fund) is based on the WilderHill New Energy Global Innovation Index (Index). The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its total assets in securities that comprise the Index and American Depository Receipts (ADRs) based on the securities in the Index. The Index seeks to deliver capital appreciation and is composed of companies that focus on greener and generally renewable sources of energy and technologies facilitating cleaner energy. The Fund and the Index are rebalanced and reconstituted quarterly.

VCLN Description

The investment seeks capital appreciation. Under normal market conditions, the fund will invest not less than 80% of its net assets (plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes) in equity securities of clean energy companies. The sub-adviser defines clean energy companies as those that derive at least 50% of their value from one or more of the following clean energy businesses: (a) the production of clean energy; (b) the provision of clean energy technology and equipment; or (c) the transmission and distribution of clean energy. It is non-diversified.
