It offers ocean transportation services through the carriage of containerized freight between various U.S. Pacific Coast, Hawaii, Guam, Micronesia, China, and other Pacific island ports by operating a fleet of 17 vessels, including 10 containerships, 3 combination container/roll-on/roll-off ships, 1 roll-on/roll-off barge, 2 container barges equipped with cranes that serve the Neighbor Islands of Hawaii, and 1 container barge equipped with cranes available for charter. The company also offers logistics services, including rail intermodal services; long haul and regional highway brokerage, less-than-truckload transportation, specialized hauling, flatbed, and project works services; and warehousing, packaging, and distribution services. In addition, it provides consolidation, customs brokerage, purchase order management, and non vessel operating common carrier services; and container stevedoring, terminal, and equipment maintenance services for ocean carriers in Honolulu. The company was formerly known as Alexander & Baldwin Holdings, Inc. and changed its name to Matson, Inc. in July 2012. Matson, Inc. was founded in 1882 and is headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii.
