DTE Energy Company Description
DTE Energy Company, together with its subsidiaries, operates as an energy company. The company's Electric segment engages in the generation, purchase, distribution, and sale of electricity to approximately 2.1 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers in southeastern Michigan. It generates electricity from fossil-fuel, hydroelectric pumped storage, and nuclear plants, as well as wind and other renewable assets. This segment owns and operates approximately 671 distribution substations; and approximately 430,600 line transformers. Its Gas segment is involved in the purchase, storage, transportation, distribution, and sale of natural gas, as well as the sale of storage and transportation capacity. This segment has approximately 19,000 miles of distribution mains, approximately 1,173,000 service pipelines, and approximately 1,309,000 active meters; and owns approximately 2,000 miles of transmission pipelines. This segment supplies natural gas to approximately 1.2 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers throughout Michigan, as well as to approximately 17,000 customers in Adrian, Michigan. The company's Gas Storage and Pipelines segment controls 2 natural gas storage fields, and intrastate lateral and intrastate gathering pipeline systems, as well as has ownership interests in 2 interstate pipelines serving the Midwest, Ontario, and northeast markets. Its Power and Industrial Projects segment consists of onsite energy, wholesale power and renewables, and reduced emissions fuel projects, as well as steel, steel industry fuel, and petroleum coke projects. The company's Energy Trading segment engages in physical and financial power, gas, and coal marketing and trading; structured transactions; and optimization of contracted natural gas pipeline transportation and storage, and generating capacity positions. DTE Energy Company was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan.
