Fusion proteins are proteins created through the joining, or fusion, of two or more genes that originally coded for separate proteins. The resulting fusion protein contains functional domains from each of the original proteins. Fusion proteins are commonly used in biotechnology and medicine, and are often used to study protein-protein interactions, protein localization, and protein expression.
