Unpatented mining claims are claims to minerals and land that have not been granted a patent by the federal government. These claims are typically located on public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Unpatented mining claims give the claimant the right to explore and develop the mineral resources on the claim, but do not give the claimant exclusive rights to the land.
