PSCM Description

The PowerShares S&P SmallCap Materials Portfolio (Fund) is based on the S&P SmallCap 600® Capped Materials Index (Index). The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its total assets in common stocks that comprise the Index. The Index is designed to measure the overall performance of common stocks of US basic materials companies. These companies are principally engaged in the business of producing raw materials, including paper or wood products, chemicals, construction materials, and mining and metals. The Index is a subset of the S&P SmallCap 600® Index, which is a float-adjusted, market-capitalization-weighted index reflecting the US small-cap market. The Fund and the Index are rebalanced and reconstituted quarterly.

The fund invests in MLPs and stocks of companies operating across energy, oil, gas and consumable fuels, oil and gas exploration and production, financials, diversified financials, mortgage real estate investment trusts (reits), materials, chemicals, commodity chemicals, industrial organic chemicals, natural rubber, plastic and synthetic resins, fabricated rubber products, plastic products, synthetic rubber, real estate, equity real estate investment trusts (reits), diversified reits, industrial manufacturing and services, manufactured products, food and tobacco production, upstream energy, downstream and midstream energy sectors. It invests in growth and value stocks of companies across diversified market capitalization. The fund invests in dividend paying stocks of companies. It seeks to track the performance of the FCF Yield Enhanced Real Asset Index, by using full replication technique.
