Westport Innovations Inc. provides low-emission engine and fuel system technologies utilizing gaseous fuels. Its technology and products enable light, medium, heavy-duty, and high horsepower petroleum-based fuel engines to use primarily natural gas and alternative fuels. The company operates through Westport Applied Technologies, Westport On-Road Systems, Westport New Markets and Off-Road Systems, Cummins Westport, and Weichai Westport segments. The Westport Applied Technologies segment designs, manufactures, and sells compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, and liquefied natural gas components and subsystems to original equipment manufacturers. This segment also designs and manufactures various components, such as pressure regulators, injectors, ECUs and valves, and filters; sells monofuel and bi-fuel conversion kits; and offers engine management solutions and systems. The Westport On-Road Systems segment engineers, designs, assembles, and sells engine and vehicle systems for automotive, light commercial, trucking, and industrial applications. The Cummins Westport segment designs, engineers, and markets natural gas engines primarily for the urban bus, refuse, and truck markets. The Weichai Westport segment develops, manufactures, and sells alternative fuel engines and parts that are used in city bus, coach, and heavy-duty truck applications. The company also converts light and medium duty vehicles to run on natural gas; and provides design and engineering services for natural gas engine systems. Westport Innovations Inc. was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.
