Banking in China refers to the banking industry of the People's Republic of China, which covers banking, credit and other financial services provided by banks in mainland China. The banking industry in China is highly regulated by the People's Bank of China, the country's central bank, and the China Banking Regulatory Commission. The banking industry in China is dominated by four major state-owned commercial banks, including the Bank of China, the China Construction Bank, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and the Agricultural Bank of China. In addition, there are a number of smaller state-owned banks, as well as foreign banks and joint venture banks.
