Wet Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a condition that affects the macula, the part of the eye responsible for central vision. It is caused by abnormal blood vessels that grow underneath the macula and leak fluid or blood, causing damage to the macula and leading to vision loss. Wet AMD is the more severe form of AMD and can cause vision loss more quickly than the dry form. Treatment for wet AMD includes injections of medications into the eye, laser treatments, and photodynamic therapy.
