Union Pacific Corporation Description
Union Pacific Corporation, through its subsidiary, Union Pacific Railroad Company, provides rail transportation services in North America. The company offers freight transportation services for agricultural products, including grains and commodities, food, and beverage products; and automotive products, such as imported and exported shipments, finished vehicles, and automotive parts and materials. It also provides transportation services for petrochemicals, including industrial chemicals, plastics, crude oil, and liquid petroleum gases; fertilizers; soda ash; and energy products comprising coal and petroleum coke. In addition, the company offers freight transportation services for industrial products comprising construction products, metals, minerals, paper, consumer goods, lumber and other miscellaneous products, steel and construction products, cement and roofing materials, and furniture and appliances; and intermodal imported and exported containers. As of December 31, 2012, its rail network included 31,868 route miles linking Pacific Coast and Gulf Coast ports with the Midwest and eastern United States gateways. Union Pacific Corporation was founded in 1862 and is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska.
