Shenandoah Telecommunications Company, a diversified telecommunications company, provides regulated and unregulated telecommunications services to end-user customers and other communications providers in the United States. The company operates in three segments: Wireless, Cable, and Wireline. The Wireless segment provides digital wireless service to a portion of a four-state area covering the region from Harrisburg, York, and Altoona of Pennsylvania to Harrisonburg, Virginia. As of December 31, 2012, it owned 150 cell site towers and had 216 leases with wireless communications providers. This segment offers its personal communications services through a digital wireless telephone and data network. The Cable segment provides coaxial cable-based television services; and video, Internet, and voice services in the portions of Shenandoah County, Virginia, as well as in West Virginia, southern and southwestern Virginia, and western Maryland. This segment had 114,891 cable revenue generating units. The Wireline segment provides regulated and unregulated voice services, dial-up and digital subscriber line (DSL) Internet access, and long distance access services in the Shenandoah and northwestern Augusta counties of Virginia; and leases fiber optic facilities in the northern Shenandoah valley of Virginia, northern Virginia, and adjacent areas along the Interstate 81 corridor. This segment served approximately 22,297 telephone services customers; 996 dial-up customers; 12,567 DSL customers; and 10,175 long distance customers. Shenandoah Telecommunications Company also sells and leases equipment related to the services it provides. The company offers its products and services under the Sprint and Shentel brands. Shenandoah Telecommunications Company was founded in 1902 and is headquartered in Edinburg, Virginia.
