CHS Inc., an integrated agricultural company, provides grain, foods, and energy resources to businesses and consumers worldwide. It operates in three segments: Energy, Ag, and Corporate and Other. The Energy segment operates petroleum refineries, pipelines, and gas stations; supplies, markets, and distributes refined fuels, such as gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, asphalt, and other related products; and blends, sells, and distributes lubricants. This segment processes crude oil into refined petroleum products and sells them under the Cenex brand name to member cooperatives and others through a network of approximately 1,350 independent retail sites, as well as offers transportation services. The Ag segment purchases and sells crop nutrients, such as nitrogen products, which include ammonia, UAN, and urea, as well as phosphate and potash based products; purchases grain from farmers, as well as manufactures and sells seeds, crop nutrients, crop protection products, energy products, animal feed, animal health products, and processed sunflower products; markets corn, soybeans, wheat, and distillers dried grains with solubles; and processes and converts soybeans into soybean meal, soy flour, crude soybean oil, refined soybean oil, and associated by-products. The Corporate and Other segment is involved in wheat milling activities; and producing and distributing vegetable oil-based products, including margarine, salad dressing, and other food products. This segment also provides seasonal and term loans to member cooperatives and individual producers; commodity risk management brokerage and consulting services primarily in the areas of agriculture and energy; and insurance products comprising property and casualty, group benefits, and surety bonds to agribusinesses. The company also exports its products. CHS Inc. is headquartered in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.
