Are You Gambling Or Investing? | Facebook Stock Drop
about 6 years ago by Fallible @ Fallible YouTube Channel

Are you investing or gambling? That’s the question you need to ask yourself. In this video I’ll use the example from the recent drop in Facebook (FB) to show the difference. On reddit a user posted about his pre-earnings Facebook play. He took his entire account, $57,000 worth, and bought weekly puts on FB. After the drop, he was able to sell those puts for $451,000 — a gain of 1500%. Pretty amazing. My question is whether or not this person had a real strategy behind that play. Is this repeatable? Is there any risk control? Based on the information in the reddit, it doesn’t look like it. He bet his entire account on a zero or one type play where he would either win huge or completely blow out. And he did it based on and earnings report which no one knows what will happen. It doesn’t seem like a legitimate strategy to me. It sounds more like gambling. Now there’s nothing wrong with gambling in the market. But it’s important to not get that confused with actual investing. Peo...

What I Talk About When I Talk About Stock Scanners
about 6 years ago by Ross Cameron - Warrior Trading @ Benzinga

One of the biggest and most frequent misconceptions that I hear about active trading is that you need a thesis to find success. For those less familiar with trading lingo, a thesis is clear, cause-and-effect theory as to why a stock will perform in particular way.read more

Trade Management, Global Macro, & The Benefits Of A Trading System
about 6 years ago by Fallible @ Fallible YouTube Channel

AK speaks with Tyler of Macro Ops all about how to manage trades including the right way to take profits, how macro gets involved, and the reason having a systematic strategy is so important. This is a great video for any beginner's in the market or anyone who is just starting to trade stocks. Make sure you watch the video above for the full conversation! We start out talking about trade management which is the hardest part about trading. In my original growth strategy, I used trailing stops to manage trades. The point was to let the winner runs. And a trail stop was a good way to prevent those winners from round tripping. Macroeconomics comes into play for my general market view. It is not used much in the actual management of trades. Technicals are the way to go when it comes to entries and exits. The problem with macro is that it plays out on a very different time frame than you are likely trading. So according to the macro, a crash may be coming soon, but soon could be this y...
